I am thrilled to be\u00a0returning to Westwind Orchard<\/a>\u00a0to discuss all the wonderful\u00a0medicinal and edible herbs on\u00a0the\u00a0land. Laura and Fabio have done a\u00a0fabulous\u00a0job\u00a0rejuvenating\u00a0this orchard\u00a0and it has\u00a0been amazing to see them revive this historic orchard as a vibrant fall destination. When they arrived over 13\u00a0years ago, their apple trees were in desperate need of attention. And attention is what they got. Westwind Orchard<\/a> started with organic pick-your-own apples but has grown to include raspberries, blackberries, pumpkins, pears, garlic, winter squash, grapes, vegetables, apple cider, honey from their very own bees, maple syrup, eggs, pigs. They make the most delicious pizza in their wood-fired oven\u00a0and recently added\u00a0a cidery with their very own cider. Their Farm Store is filled with oodles of local products including all their organic produce, maple syrup, honey, jams, applesauce, cider vinegars, art from local artisans, and other non-local fair trade items. If that isn\u2019t enough they show a film every Saturday night during pick-your-own season, this Saturday \u201cMonsters, Inc.\u201d will be\u00a0showing.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll be taking folks on a stroll around the land to identify and\u00a0discuss\u00a0all the wonderful medicinal and edible herbs we can find; please join\u00a0me at Westwind Orchard<\/a>. Learn something new, pick some yummy fruit, have a pizza, drink some cider and enjoy the glorious.<\/p>\n

We are surrounded everywhere by plants with wondrous and magical properties. Many are nutritious and able to soothe our ailments; others raise our spirits and connect us deeply with the world around us. Join Debbie and find out which “weeds” make delicious additions to salads, relieve the pain of a bee sting, the itch of poison ivy, or ameliorate seasonal allergies. And that\u2019s just for starters. She\u2019ll share her favorite herbal remedies, many that have been used for centuries and are literally right outside our front doors. She\u2019ll even take folks on a plant walk around the farm.<\/p>\n
